| I don't know the answer, but I do know that the watch has been discussed here before. Have you tried a forum Search? |

here arethe info i gathered:
The watch is designed by naoto fukasawa for IDEO.
Heres more background on it
2001 at NTT InterCommunication
Centre (ICC) in the Tokyo Opera City
Tower, Fukasawa showcased, with
IDEO, the LED Watch. A small rectangle
block formed from co-injection
moulded plastic with an embedded
light-emitting diode (LED) panel, this
wristwatch rests veiled within a blank
slab. It isn’t until pressure is applied to a
switch hidden in the band that numbers
become illuminated, stacked with the
numeric hour over the minute.
But it's not available anywhere , maybe watch ebay or ask ideo:

As a fan of minimalistic watches, I've been searching the web for the IDEO/Fukasawa watch several times in the last years. Never found much more than the 2 links mentioned above. I'm pretty sure that if it was ever producesd at all, it must have been in very small numbers and only for Japan.

Fukasawa's watch certaily is an interesting timepiece I have seen a number of pictures of it including one of it on the wrist of its creator.
I suspect that it is a design exercise with only a very small number of working examples. His work as an industrial designer seems to cover mainly electronic items like mobile phones for the Japanese home market .You would really need to contact the man himself if you want one, maybe he does commissions. _________________ LED watches are cool! |
