ABOUT: PHOTO GALLERY |
Close Window |
| I'm hoping the members here at DWF.NU will start to familiarize
themselves with the new Photo Gallery, so I have created this
document, along with some screen shots, to push you guys up the
learning curve.. There is also a "FAQ" link on the menu bar of
the Gallery, which will give you much of the same information I
present, and more. Jump to: Instructions for Creating an Album Jump to: Instructions for Uploading. |
| Registering/Login If you are a member at DWF.NU, you are already a member of the Gallery!! Log in at either one, and you are logged in at the other! Go back and forth between the two by minimizing their respective windows. Closing one window completely WILL NOT log you out of the other, so opening the one you just closed is just 1 mouse click away. The User Gallery section at the top is a great place to create an online gallery or catalogue of pieces you have, had or want. You can also use it as a place to put up photos of pieces you want to sell. Better yet, make an second album within your gallery that is named, e.g.., "Stuff I want to sell". |
| I did my best to build a directory structure that covers most of the genres of digital watches and related items. As time goes on, I am hoping we will have some moderators who can help with the task of shuffling some of the photos that get misclassified into their proper area. The directory structure will be changed and expanded to make it very thorough - please make suggestions. Words put into the description areas of uploaded files will help others to search for particular pieces and documents. |
| Coming in February 2009, the ability to make direct, permanent links to items in the gallery will make our current Image Shack setup obsolete. Watermarking of photos. Moderators for public photo albums. |
| All the photos at www.ledwatches.net will be ported to this gallery at some point, along with a few thousand others I have been sent or taken myself. |

MAKING AN USER ALBUM - Let's Go!! * We will be using the Admin's test account "dongle" for these instructions.* One of the first things you will want to do is make yourself an ALBUM - without creating at least one Album, you will not appear in the "Users Gallery" section. While logged in, obviously, click on "Create/Order my albums, as shown below. Continue↓(next text area). |
![]() |
| That will bring up the Album Manager. In my example below, I already have an Album called "Administrative Test", so I will click on the "New" button. The name "New Album" will appear in the list window, and in a single line box below the list window. Use the single line box to change the name of your album - you can change it later also. DO NOT name your album with your user name - creating an album will automatically create a user gallery with your name, with your albums inside of it. Click "Apply Modifications" to save your album with the new name. Continue↓(next text area). |
|
|
| Here (below) you see how I have changed mine! Continue↓(next text area). |

|
Changing Your Album's Properties If you go into the User Galleries, you will now see a Gallery with your user name. Clicking on the user name will show your galleries. Each of your albums will have three actions listed below the name - these actions only show themselves to you, they are not there for other users, except in THEIR own galleries.
"Delete" - will remove that Album and the
files it contains entirely - it will prompt you twice to make sure. |
|
|
| "Properties" - here you can change the
album's title/name, description and thumbnail to show in main User
Gallery. Clicking "Properties"
takes you to the "Update Album" area below. Continue↓(next text area). |
|
|
| End of User Album instructions. |
| UPLOADING
FILES Once again, hover over the "Home" icon - next to the Logout/Login link is the Upload File link. Click it -duh! Continue↓(next text area). |
![]() |
| I like to think the screen below is
fairly self-explanatory. Click "Browse", browse to the file you want, select/click on the file, click "open". Click "Continue when you have your files all listed. Like 99.9% of the programs you've used. Continue↓(next text area). |
|
|
| The screen below allows you to select which
gallery each picture goes into - it must be either your personal Album
or one of the public classifications. Please select
carefully...we understand there will be occasional mistakes. Do your best filling in the description, keywords, brand and features areas, it will greatly assist those who are searching. That's All Folks!! |
